The following projects were completed by Moore & Associates in 1998.

A Technology Provider

Recycle Mill Market Research. Moore & Associates performed an extensive market research analysis of recycle paper mills throughout North America.  The emphasis of the project was the size and characteristics of the market for this supplier's process technology.  (1998)

A Product Producer

Availability of Fiber Scrap Supply.  In this project, Moore & Associates developed information on a mixed plastic/fiber supply source for this product processor's raw material needs.  The information is to be utilized in the company's pending expansion plans.  (1998)

A Worldwide Paper Producer

$martBuySM Analysis of Recovered Paper Procurement Practices.   Moore & Associates analyzed this multi-continent client's procurement of large quantities of several grades of coated and uncoated recovered paper.  The objectives of the project were to benchmark the company's current practices, recommend optimization, and define the best procurement organization structure.  (1998)

A Containerboard Producer

Mixed Paper Supply from a Large Metropolitan Area. For this client, Moore & Associates developed detailed information about the supply and demand of mixed paper in a major US metropolitan marketplace.  The second part of the project compared mixed paper price and supply availability for various collection programs through the US.  (1998).

Multiple Clients

OCC/Mixed Paper Suite.  In this annual project, Moore & Associates released updates on four OCC/mixed paper market reports; a five-year forecast (1999-2003), updated regional price histories, actual mill price benchmarking, and an analysis of inventory practices.  This series of reports enables a mill to examine historical trends in OCC/mixed paper pricing, as well as benchmark their performance, and project costs into the future.  (1998 & 1999)

State Market Development Agency and Paperboard Producers

Residential Mixed Paper Market Development. In this project, Moore & Associates acted as the lead entity in bringing together a group of approximately 10 mills in the upper Midwest US to develop data on the generation, market trends and usability of residential mixed paper from the state of Minnesota.  Detailed information was developed about the composition and generation of RMP as well as long-term price forecasts for both OCC and RMP in order for mills to make decisions on use of this difficult grade.  (1998/1999)

A Recycle Material Processor

A Recovered Material Supply Analysis. In this project, Moore & Associates developed detail data on existing supply of a very specialized grade of recovered material.  The client utilized this information to justify a capital expenditure on a fiber/plastic separation system.  (1998)

A North American Paper Producer

Confidential Compensation Study. This project analyzed compensation practices for processing facility management in a single region of the US.  The client utilized this data to benchmark their present salary and bonus practices.  (1998)

A Processing Facility Design and Construction Firm

Sales and Marketing Strategy and Support. Moore & Associates assisted this design and construction firm expand its business into the paper recycling area. The project involved developing a marketing and sales strategy, as well as providing on-going marketing support for an extended period of time.  (1998)

ONP/OMG Suite. In this annual project, Moore & Associates released updates on four ONP/OMG market reports; a five-year forecast (1998-2002), updated regional price histories, actual mill purchasing practices (FOB/delivered costs and inventory practices), and an update on our State Recycle Content Newsprint Law Analysis.  This series of reports enables a mill to examine historical trends in ONP/OMG pricing, as well as benchmark their performance, and project costs into the future.  (1998 & 1999)

A Recycle Printing and Writing Paper Producer

$martBuySM Analysis of Recovered Paper Procurement Practices.  Moore & Associates provided this client with an overview analysis of its recovered paper purchasing practices and strategies.  This producer of 100% recycle product used primarily printer scrap, and was seeking to lower costs and increase their supply of recovered paper.  (1998)

A Recycle Paper Producer

Tax Exempt Financing Verification. In this project, Moore & Associates verified the status of a new paper machine's waste paper raw material for its compliance with the Internal Revenue Service's tax exempt financing regulations.  The project included examination of the pricing of a series of deinking high grades, their collection and  baling/processing costs.  (1998)

A Recycle Paperboard Producer

A Recovered Paper Grade Pricing Analysis. Moore & Associates analyzed both loose and baled prices and broker/packer costs for procurement of a recovered paper grade in a specific region.  The analysis was designed to assist the client decide whether to pursue a back integration strategy for recovered paper procurement or restructure its current buying practices.  (1998)

A North American Newsprint Producer

Acquisition Due Diligence. Moore & Associates performed an analysis of ONP and OMG procurement practices of an existing recycle newsprint operation.  The work was performed for a client pursuing acquisition of the company.  As part of the effort, Moore & Associates forecasted ONP price impacts from expanding the current use of recycle fiber at the operations.  (1998)

A Major Pulp and Paper Manufacturer

Strategic Analysis and Benchmarking Survey.  In this project, Moore & Associates performed a detailed analysis of a variety of recovered paper procurement organization structures, including both market buyers and those entities with recycling plant operations. Included in this effort was a benchmarking analysis of recycling processing plant operations.  (1998)

A Recycle Paperboard Mill

Residential Mixed Paper Sourcing. Moore & Associates assisted this client with a sourcing strategy for residential mixed paper from local governments.  Moore & Associates acted as technical advisor and a liason between government representatives and the mill to successfully secure a long-range supply of low cost fiber.  (1998)

A Major North American Pulp and Paper Producer

Fore$ightSM Price Forecasting Program.  In this project, Moore & Associates will provide ongoing price forecasting for a major recovered paper grade under the company's Fore$ightSM program.  As part of this effort, multiple price forecasts will be produced, periodically updated, and adjusted for changes in input variables supplied by the client.  (1998 & 1999)

A Recycle Paperboard Producer

Recovered Paper Price Benchmarking.  Moore & Associates assisted this client in benchmarking its mills cost of fiber against the rest of the industry.  (1998)

A Mill Company Recycle Division

Assessing New Brokerage Opportunities.  Moore & Associates assembled data from a series of recovered paper generators for expanding this company's brokerage business.  Moore & Associates also assisted the company with its strategy and approach to increasing its brokerage business through new sources of high grades.  (1998/1999)

A Major US Pulp and Paper Company

Recycling Division Strategic Analysis. Moore & Associates performed an in-depth strategic analysis of a group of recycling procurement operations.  This effort also involved benchmarking and comparing company's practices in the paper recycling industry.  (1998)
